Road Trip, Part 3
(Continued from the previous episodes)
Sunday was planned as a lazy day in Sibiu, it was Raluca's birthday and we celebrated by relaxing. There's this book shop, on the main pedestrian street near Piaţa Mare, really nice place, where we got some books and CDs and I sneaked a few photos. We also found a yummy ice cream parlor. Sibiu is a good place to hang out, restaurants and bars and cafes have good stuff and good service.
On monday we set off for Deva and Hunedoara, listening to an audiobook we got from the Sibiu book shop, "M. Ibrahim et les fleurs du Coran" (in Romanian translation, read by Florian Pittiş). I barely remember the trip, the story was so captivating.
We didn't get to see much in Deva, they have a fort on a huge hill but it was closed to visitors. Hunedoara was also disappointing, we arrived too late to visit their fortress, but we came back the next day and went in. The place is pretty amazing, it looks like it's ready to fend off an assault. From the outsite it looks imposing and impenetrable.
Tuesday we also stopped at Horezu monastery on our way home. It oozes peace and tranquility and it's beautiful in a very understated way.
